A resource for any artist looking beyond their discipline.

An Open Call for Artists

Across Disciplines Database is an organized directory of visual and performing artists of all disciplines, from musicians to filmmakers to painters! This resource is meant to help you expand your network by connecting you with artists outside of your discipline for upcoming projects. Individual artists (no companies or collectives) in any part of the globe may submit their profile on an ongoing basis. We want to know who you are and what you do. Share your work with us and other artists all over the world!

Browse the artists in the database by using the filters below to search for a specific discipline and its corresponding tags. Disciplines and tags are color coded. For example, if your discipline is “musician” (light blue), then the additional tags you probably need are also light blue.

 

All of the information collected and shared has been done with the explicit consent of all artists listed. There are no pre-requisites to join the database. Artists are not screened prior to joining. Art Beyond the Ink does not employ or endorse any of the artists listed on this database and is not responsible for any issues that arise as a result of collaborating with an artist found on this page. The database is simply a tool; we will not assist in making connections.

Why should you use and join the Across Disciplines Database?

    Collaborate.

    Many of us face challenges in building a strong network of artists outside our discipline. Are you a musician looking for a lighting designer? Or an animator looking for a composer to write a film score? You may not know where to start when creating an interdisciplinary project. This database lists possible connections of all kinds all in one space, saving you valuable time in your search.

    Work with Art Beyond the Ink.

    Interdisciplinary collaboration is central to Art Beyond the Ink’s mission. Joining the database also connects you with us, since we also use this resource for our own projects! Collaboration with us comes in many forms: creating a story for Feather Pen Films, appearing as a guest at our children’s workshops, or performing live. We’d love to see your work so that we can make something amazing together. We value the work of artists and always compensate those whom we work with.

    The more places to meet artists, the better! This database serves as a way to get you in front of creators who are looking for you, whether or not they know it yet. When filling out the form to join, make sure to include as many helpful tags as possible, like your location, details about your practice, and links to work samples, so that when others narrow their search to Brooklyn, NY + writer + director + comedy, you’ll pop right up.

    Em Messana is a Miami-born, NYC-based filmmaker and theatre artist. Her artistic practice is defined by accessibility, authenticity, and visibility. She is passionate about telling LGBTQ+ stories and centering lesbian identity on stage and screen.

    Jens Ibsen

    Jens Ibsen, composer/tenor, is a multidisciplinary artist whose talents have led him to performances from Dubai to Shanghai, on German television, at Carnegie Hall, and the UN. Jens was a soloist and the first African-born member of the Vienna Boys Choir.

    Lu is a recent New School graduate. They recently wrote, directed, and edited their first short film, 'Mannequin', released in Spring 2022. In the past, they have been a video editor for Relix Magazine, as well as for award-winning independent shorts.

    Katie Jenkins is a multi award-winning Welsh composer/producer now based in New York City. Her music can be identified by its unique way of weaving together tapestries of sounds and layering textures with a touch of Celtic flair as she draws on her Welsh roots.

    Devin Cohen is a NYC-based bassoonist currently finishing his Bachelor’s degree at the Mannes College of Music. He has performed with the Prisma Festival Orchestra, the Regina Opera Company, NewOrch, and the Garden State Philharmonic.

    Jorinde Hol is an animator from the Netherlands, dedicated to helping erase the misunderstandings of the LGBTQ+ community, mental illnesses through her art.

    Hannah’s earliest memories of music include dancing to her grandfather playing “Für Elise”, singing church hymns with her mother, and listening to her father’s off-key singing. Since then, she graduated from The Juilliard School and is pursuing a Master’s from the Royal Academy of Music.

    Chang Liu is an actor and composer based in New York & Europe. Born in China, he studied music and theatre in Europe and NYC. Chang has worked professionally for over twenty years and is an award winning artist, including awards from AAIFF2016, CIFF2018 and Jersey Shore Film Festival 2019.

    Jessica Ferretti is originally from Port Chester, NY. She graduated from Marymount Manhattan College, where she received her BFA in Dance concentrating in Ballet. She joined the Taylor 2 Dance Company in Fall 2019, and the Paul Taylor Dance Company in 2021.
